Kids, quick! Cover your eyes!

No, don’t worry, I’m just kidding. Many of you may know that I recently had developed (by a very good friend of mine) a script which I have now named VirRal. I do NOT want to pitch anything to you as this is not what this blog is for. But instead, I thought I’d share the story behind VirRal as i believe it is quite interesting.

You probably haven’t heard but about a year back a site called ShowABuddy came into existence (do NOT search it). It was a dirty site where a guy was trying to get revenge. His girlfriend had cheated on him and he was releasing some naughty pictures of her. He would only release them if the site got 1 million views.

You probably guessed is. Because of all the “porn addicts” out there, the site when viral and within 1 month he’d reached 2 million visitors. But there were some fundamental problems to the site and why it was one of those “lucky” successes:

1) Visitors didn’t get an immediate reward for referring other friends.

2) There was absolutely no pressure to spread the site.

3) Most people forgot about the site. They would visit it, maybe tell a few friends but soon forget about it.

But still, with these fundamental flaws, the site went viral and reached its target very quickly. So, how does this apply to us?

Well, about a few months later, a new script was developed. The same motive but a different approach. This time, the site admin, would reveal pics depending on how many visitors you sent. This went extremely viral and brought in about 3 million visitors in the space of several days. Visitors were immediately rewarded for referring others and this is exactly what made it so viral.

You still probably don’t see how this relates in any way to you or your site. Well, let me introduce VirRal.

VirRal is based on these extremely viral sites but with a few extra features. It now doesn’t just apply to “xxx” sites only (thank god!) but can work with ANY site.
